Description:
An in-depth self-examination of skills, personality, attitudes, and behaviors to increase self-awareness of leadership competencies. Students will also examine theories of leadership to develop insights for their personalized leadership development. Activities include individual assessments, a ropes course, personal leadership development plan, and learning journal.

Course Title:Leadership in the Global Marketplace
Course
Description:
Exploration of the various aspects of business leadership on a global level through study and application activities. Study portion features speakers and case studies to teach principles of business leadership. Application of principles includes travel to an international location to tour businesses, meet with government and non-governmental organizations, and business officials.

Course Title:Personal Career Management and Service Learning
Course
Description:
The objective of the first half of the course is to teach career management skills. The objective of the second half is to teach skills related to effective internal and external consulting in order to facilitate the service-learning project requirement for ILA fellows.

Nontraditional Format:The course will consist of a one-hour session each week for the entire semester. This course includes a focus on how to manage a change initiative within a non-profit to aid in completion of service-learning projects in Organizational Leadership. Students will spend 50% of the class on learning these skills along with beginning to engage with their service-learning clients.

Job search issues and career and life planning. Assists students in making the transition from the academic community to the work environment. Course Title:Service-Learning Project Management

Description:
The research and design phase of the Institute for Leadership Advancement’s service-learning project component for Leonard Leadership Scholars. The curriculum will focus on how to manage a change initiative within a non-profit organization. Topics will include qualitative research, benchmarking, project management, and problem solving.

Nontraditional Format:The course will consist of a one-hour session each week for the entire semester. This course is focused on how to manage a change initiative within a non-profit to aid in completion of a 12-month long service-learning project which is completed in Organizational Leadership. Students will spend 50% of the class on learning these skills and another 50% working on a service- learning project aimed at helping a local non-profit.

Course Title:Organizational Leadership
Course
Description:
Examines leadership in business organizations. It covers how organizational leaders guide, support, influence, and meet the needs of their followers. Topics include developing employees, increasing engagement, leading teams, leveraging diversity, and building and changing corporate cultures. Students will apply the knowledge and skills they learn through service-learning projects.
