Description:
Characteristics and origins of minerals and rocks. Plate tectonics and structure of the Earth's interior. Geologic processes that affect the Earth's surface: volcanism, earthquakes, coastal erosion, and global climate changes. Natural Earth resources and human interaction.

Duplicate Credit:Not open to students with credit in GEOL 1121 or GEOL 1121H or GEOL 1250-1250L
Nontraditional Format:During Summer semester this course will be taught in the field as part of the Geology, Anthropology Summer Field Program. Extensive field observations and projects will be included in addition to organized lecture and laboratory work.
