Course Title:Melody Harmonization
Course
Description:
Course is intended for music therapy majors and explores theoretical and analytical approaches to harmonizing diatonic and chromatic melodies on guitar, piano, and other instruments. Course begins with a review of diatonic and chromatic harmony before moving into alternate forms of harmonic representation that include lead-sheet notation, Nashville numbers, tablature, and chord box reading. The goal of the course is fluency in harmonization, as demonstrated through skills-based assessments, performances, and projects.
