A first course in research in genetics under the direction of a faculty member.

Nontraditional Format:A minimum of three contact hours per credit hour per week is required. A directed research course under the close supervision of a faculty member. Students will engage in research and undergo a systematic and in-depth inquiry into fundamental, unknown, scientific problems. In some cases, the student will work collaboratively as part of a research team. Students will have to apply understanding of the discipline to identify or shape research questions and apply skills and techniques learned to the research project. Students will gather data, synthesize relevant literature, analyze, and interpret data. Students will present results both in writing for feedback and from participation in lab meetings and meetings with the faculty.
