structure, writing, and storytelling for visual entertainment
media. Students are required to write and workshop documents and

| Course Objectives: | Upon completing this course, student will:
• Develop script writing conventions and formats (such as master
scene format, dual column format, beat sheets, and treatments)
• Master writing in active voice
• Demonstrate the basic premises of narrative theory and
structure and be capable of applying that structure to a variety
of visual media
• Draft a short script that can be used in future EMST courses
• Execute the process of creative production, from
