Course Description: | In this introductory writing course, students learn narrative
structure, writing, and storytelling for visual entertainment
media. Students are required to write and workshop documents and
short scripts both in groups and individually. |

Course Objectives: | Upon completing this course, student will:
• Develop script writing conventions and formats (master scene
format, dual column format, beat sheets, and treatments)
• Master writing in active voice
• Demonstrate the basic premises of narrative theory and
structure, and capable of applying that structure to a variety
of visual media
• Draft a short script that can be used in future EMST courses
• Execute the process of creative production, from brainstorming
through, drafting, and receiving critiques |
