Course Objectives: | This course examines intersections of diversity in entertainment
media, including class, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and gender.
Students explore theories of identity in media entertainment
(television, film, games, digital culture) with a primary focus
on the ideological underpinnings, power structures, cultural
identities, and social implications of these theories in
production and representation. Students analyze representation
as well as media industry forces that influence what and how
media are created. Empasis is placed on how understandings of
diversity and identity can inform entertainment media practices. |
