Course ID: | FORS 8030. 3 hours. |
Course Title: | Advanced Tree Physiology |
Course Description: | Recent research in the processes that directly or indirectly
affect carbon gain and allocation, including photosynthesis,
respiration, nutrient uptake, water relations, and growth of
trees. |
Oasis Title: | Advanced Tree Physiology |
Prerequisite: | Permission of school |
Semester Course Offered: | Offered spring semester every year. |
Grading System: | A-F (Traditional) |
|
Course Objectives: | In this course we will investigate how external and internal
factors affect how trees function, with emphasis on processes
related to carbon gain and use by trees. Current issues and
recent findings will be emphasized. Results of important
classic and seminal studies also will be described. The format
will be a combination of lecture and discussion.
This course is designed to provide an understanding of tree
physiology at the “whole-plant” level. |
Topical Outline: | a. Physical Environment
