perspective in three distinct areas: (1) the global nuclear
order/disorder, (2) the international nuclear non-proliferation
regime, and (3) nuclear weapon states’ national nuclear
doctrines over the years. |

Course Objectives: | This course addresses the issue of nuclear non-proliferation
from a series of international (i.e., non-U.S.) perspectives.
The objective being to acquaint students with the global
context of non-proliferation and to give them a more thorough
understanding of challenges to non-proliferation throughout
the world. It begins by conceptualizing the global nuclear
order/disorder and then proceeds to discuss the global
nuclear non-proliferation regime, paying specific attention to
international and regional perspectives, reservations, and
responses to the regime. The most substantive part of the 15-
week course will be a week-by-week overview of every nuclear
weapon state’s national nuclear doctrines throughout the
years. |
