Course Title: | Nonprofit Governance and Accountability |
Course Description: | Organizational structures and decision-making processes in
nonprofits. Topics include nonprofit legal forms and
regulations, nonprofit administrative structures, nonprofit
ethics and structures for nonprofit accountability, nonprofit
goals, human resource strategies for nonprofits, and the role of
stakeholders in service distribution. |

Course Objectives: | 1. Provide an understanding of nonprofit governance structures
and their distinctive functions.
2. Outline the legal guidelines for nonprofit incorporation and
management.
3. Familiarize students with the external and internal
accountability structures for nonprofit organizations.
4. Introduce students to accountability and performance issues
tied to cross-sector collaborations with businesses and
government agencies.
5. Help students identify stakeholders and incentive systems
within nonprofit organizations.
6. Encourage students to develop and understand the nonprofit�s
relationship to the community, including ethical
considerations, ideas of public responsibility, and the role of
the mission in service provision.
7. Provide guidelines for the organization and management of
nonprofit organizations. |
