Course Description: | Covers basics of good writing and genres of science writing. Includes guest lectures by professional science writers. Students read and discuss science pieces from the popular press, write and critique their own pieces, and pursue special projects. Includes examination of how scientists can better communicate with a general audience. |

Course Objectives: | Objectives:
(1) to furnish students with tools for effective writing of
science for general audiences.
(2) to acquaint students with the cultures of journalism and of
science to foster better communication between the two.
