The objectives of this course will vary with the substantive content associated with the "special topic." Possible special topics include voting rights, empirical and theoretical research on the U.S. Supreme Court, implementaiton and impact of civil rights policy, criminal sentencing laws and policies. Students will analyze readings that include case law, position papers, and social science research.

All academic work must meet the standards contained in "A Culture of Honesty." Students are responsible for informing themselves about these standards before performing academic work. The penalties for academic dishonesty are severe and ignorance is not an acceptable defense.
