Course Title: | Introduction to Environmental Sciences and Engineering |
Course Description: | Introductory course in atmospheric, aquatic, and terrestrial
systems emphasizing how technology affects them and how it is
used to minimize and correct negative impacts. Introductory
topics include population, energy, natural, and human-induced
environmental disturbances. Detailed coverage of technologies
associated with water quality and quantity, air quality, and
solid and hazardous wastes. |
Oasis Title: | ENV SCI & ENGR |
Prerequisite: | MATH 1113 and CHEM 1211 |
Pre or Corequisite: | PHYS 1111-1111L or PHYS 1211-1211L |
Semester Course Offered: | Offered fall semester every year. |
Grading System: | A-F (Traditional) |
|

technologies associated with environmental problems and
solutions, and principles of environmental assessment and
management.
After successful completion of this course the student should:
1. Understand how technology can both positively and negatively
impact the environment.
2. Understand and describe basic technologies associated with
water, air, and solid wastes.
3. Propose methods by which technologies can be modified/applied
to minimize/correct existing/future environmental problems. |
