Course Description: | A selection of the most influential literary works in East Asian civilization. Focusing on fiction, drama, poetry, history, and literary theory, students will read and analyze primary works and study the development of and interactions among pivotal texts. Provides foundational knowledge of East Asian literature and culture and prepares students for further studies in East Asian topics. |

Course Objectives: | This course covers major religions, philosophies, literary
masterpieces, and influential historical writings in the second
half of East Asian civilization. Through writing short essays,
posting questions and comments online, doing presentations and
performances, and in-class discussions, students will learn to
think and write critically. |
