Course Objectives: | . To provide practical hands-on experience and academic credit
under appropriate supervision while the student is enrolled in
the Environmental Health Science degree program. Experience is
related to industrial hygiene, public health or environmental
protection.
. To familiarize students with various aspects of environmental
health science. |
Topical Outline: | The course syllabus is a general plan for the course; deviations
announced to the class by the instructor may be necessary.
. EHS students who have completed a minimum of 6 hours of major-
related course work including EHSC 3060 and who are in good
academic standing may apply for internship. The students should
have completed their junior year and preferably their senior year.
. Students who want to apply for internship work through their
academic advisor and the Internship Coordinator (or designated
representative). The Internship Coordinator must approve the
internship in advance of the student registering for the course.
. A minimum of 180 hours of on-site work must be performed
successfully by the student to earn 3 hours of academic credit.
. Documents must be completed in accordance with the schedule
that is prepared individually each semester.
. The intern's supervisor will provide a written evaluation of
the student at the midpoint and end of the internship period.
. The intern will provide written evaluations of the host agency
and the internship program in the EHS department.
. The student's final grade will be based on a combination of
the intern's evaluations and a final report prepared by the intern. |
