Course Objectives: | To introduce the EHS student to the field of Occupational
Hygiene and Safety.
Specific objectives are:
1. Identify and understand the nature of the health effects
associated with exposure to industrial agents.
2. Review the standard methods for measuring and evaluating
worker exposure to chemical and physical agents and interpret
these results.
3. Identify and interpret health and safety standards and
regulations for the workplace environment.
4. Develop proficiency in the use of the equipment used in air
sampling, noise measurements.
5. Evaluate the performance characteristics and limitations of
selected personal protective equipment.
6. Evaluate the general approach to controlling worker
exposure to health and safety hazards to a specific industrial
setting.
7. Conduct the risk assessment of the chemical and physical
hazards in the work environment. |
