Students will investigate a defined problem in marie science under the direction of a
faculty member.  The projects will provide
students with experience in doing marine research either on an independent student
project or as part of an ongoing research
project in a faculty member's laboratory.  Students will gain experience in
laboratory techniques and research literature reviews.

Students will spend the semester performing research or conducting literature
searches under the supervision of a faculty member
on an independent student project or as part of an ongoing project in the faculty
members's laboratory.  The specific area of marine
science investigated will vary according to the student's interests and the faculty
member's research.

It is the student's responsibility to be familiar with the University of Georgia's
policy on academic honesty as published in the booklet
"A Culture of Honesty:  Policies and Procedures on Academic Honesty".  Evidence of
academic dishonesty will be turned over to the Office
of the Vice President for Academic Affairs for consideration and possible action. 
The minimum penalty for a student found guilty of
academic dishonesty is a grade of "F" in the course and a note on the student's
transcript.  There have been several recent changes in the
