Course Title: | Scientific Diving II |
Course Description: | An advanced-level course designed to teach students the
fundamentals of scuba diving and underwater scientific research
methods. At the end of the course, students will be eligible to
earn advanced open water certification and be prepared to
participate in a scientific diver research program (assuming all
other certification requirements are satisfied). |

Course Objectives: | The students will learn about advanced scuba diving skills, such
as mapping shipwrecks, deep water diving, underwater navigation,
and limited visibility or night diving. The students will be
required to participate in off-campus diving trips to complete
designated advanced dives and perform tasks related to the
course topics. Earning the advanced open water certification
will depend on the student’s performance. In addition, the
student will be qualified to participate in advanced underwater
research through a scientific diving program (with the addition
of cpr, first aid and oxygen administration certifications, and
a satisfactory physical exam). |
