Course Objectives: | This seminar is designed to keep graduate students abreast of
advanced topics in plant population biology. Students will be
expected to develop the ability to read, interpret, and
critique primary and review literature in the field. Students
will be encouraged to develop their abilities to express
opinions and ideas in a discussion format as well as to further
develop their abilities to give formal presentations on
advanced research topics. |
Topical Outline: | SYLLABUS
Topics in plant population biology will vary among course offerings and instructors.
The format of the seminars may also vary. Generally two formats are used:
(1) All students will read papers from the primary literature in plant
population biology. One of more students will be designated as discussion leaders
but all students will be expected to contribute to the discussions; (2) Students
will choose some aspect of the seminar topic and will give a presentation to the
other seminar participants.
The seminar is normally schedules for one 1 hour session per week.
The course syllabus is a general plan for the course; deviations announced to the
class by the instructor may be necessary. |
