Course Objectives: | Students wills study an author, topic, genre or period of
literature of the Portuguese-speaking world in depth.
Undergraduate students will write an minimum of three (4-5) page
papers in addition to two exams. Oral presentations will be
required of undergraduate and graduate students. Graduate
students will write three (4-5) page papers plus a final research
paper (15-30pp). Given in Portuguese. |
Topical Outline: | Topics will vary.
Examples could be:
Machado de Assis, Clarice Lispector and Joao Guimaraes Rosa;
Portuguese-African Poetry; Luis de Camoes and
Portuguese epic poetry. The role of censorship in the
Portuguese-speaking world. Students will study an author, topic,
genre or period of literature of the Portuguese-speaking world in
depth. |
