Course Objectives: | 1) For the students to gain an understanding of key terminology and concepts and
research methods in drama and dramatic analysis that will enable them to understand
and analyze future theatrical experiences.
2) To give students a basic familiarity and understanding of Western Drama--its
history, context and key texts.
3) To teach students how to understand and analyze a written script text including
the role of context and intertexts in textual analysis. |
Topical Outline: | I. Exploration of a method for script analysis.
II. Application of the method to specific scripts.
III. Relationship between script and play: examination of
plays in performance.
IV. Implications for literary and creative endeavors. |
