  • A passing grade on an examination on the history of the United States and Georgia is required to satisfy the United States and Georgia History Requirement for all persons receiving a baccalaureate degree from the University, unless exempted by one of the following courses: HIST 2111, HIST 2111E, HIST 2111H, HIST 2112, HIST 2112E, HIST 2112H, HIST 3080H. Entrance Requirements
Students must audition to gain admission to the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. This is a high-demand major. After meeting the entrance requirements, students will be selected based on the following high-demand selection criteria.

High-Demand Major–Selection Criteria
  • Entrance audition for first year students that selects students with very high music performance skills in a set instrumentation.
  • Completion of first and second year seminars and practica in Music Therapy
  • Passing subsequent music performance skills exam in the first and second years that demonstrate increasing musical maturity and skill in at least one performance medium.
  • Recommendation of Music Therapy faculty through a formal barrier review procedure during the sophomore year.  Criteria for meeting recommendation expectations include: 1. Statement of intent; 2. Completion of MUSI 2021MUSI 5400/7400, MUSI 5440/7440 with a "C" or higher; 3. Completion of one of the following courses: MUSI 2040MUSI 2050, MUSI 2060, MUSI(AFST)(AFAM) 2080, MUSI 2090, MUSI 2300 or MUSI 2300H; 4. Meeting with music therapy faculty to discuss admission to the major.

A baccalaureate degree program must require at least 21 semester hours of upper division courses in the major field and at least 39 semester hours of upper division work overall.
Students in the Franklin College must earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in major required courses.
