  • Students who have not met the Georgia and U.S. Constitution requirement by examination should enroll in POLS 1101 or POLS 1101E or POLS 1101H.
  • A passing grade on an examination on the history of the United States and Georgia is required to satisfy the United States and Georgia History Requirement for all persons receiving a baccalaureate degree from the University, unless exempted by one of the following courses: HIST 2111, HIST 2111E, HIST 2111H, HIST 2112, HIST 2112E, HIST 2112H, HIST 3080H. Entrance Requirements
Students will be provisional majors until they have completed or are currently enrolled in ARST 1050 (or ARST 1050H), ARST 1060, ARST 1080, and ARST 2010 (with a grade of C (2.0) or better). To be accepted, one must have a minimum overall 2.5 GPA, complete Area VI (and ARED 2110) with a 3.0 GPA or above in these courses. Students must submit a portfolio including the following artifacts:  1) a 500-word statement describing reasoning for majoring in Art Education; 2) documentation of the completion of 35 hours of experiential early field requirements; 3) documentation showing that you have passed or exempted the GACE Program Admissions Test; and 4) 4-6 images of studio work created while at UGA. Student must be admitted to the Art Education concentration to enroll in ARED 4350S/6350S, ARED 4360S/6360S and ARED 5460/7460 and should have a GaPSC pre-service certificate prior to taking these courses. Completion of Core Areas I-V should be done simultaneously with the completion of the 4-year B.F.A. program. This is a high-demand major. After meeting the entrance requirements, students will be selected based on the following high-demand selection criteria.

A baccalaureate degree program must require at least 21 semester hours of upper division courses in the major field and at least 39 semester hours of upper division work overall.
Students in the Franklin College must earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in major required courses.
