Career Opportunities: Like all good liberal arts majors, political science helps students develop their analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as improve their written and oral communication skills. It provides excellent preparation for graduate education in law and public administration, as well as doctoral programs in political science. Political Science is also good foundation for careers in public service, campaign work, and various management positions in the private sector.
Expectations
of Transfer Students:
Transfer students should have completed at least POLS 1101 or equivalent, which is the prerequisite for all courses in the major.

Other information on internships with government agencies, election campaigns, interest groups, private firms, and other organizations is available at the Career Center in Clark Howell Hall. All internships have specific upper-division courses as prerequisites and must be approved in advance (see the School's website for details).
Distance Learning: Several Political Science courses are taught through "Independent and Distance Learning" at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. See their website at http://www.gactr.uga.edu/idl/index.phtml for more details.

Available Graduate Programs: Political Science degrees prepare students for a variety of graduate and professional programs.
