Description:
The Hospitality and Food Industry Management (HFIM) major provides students with a unique, well-rounded education in hospitality economics and business, finance, management, and marketing, which combined with experiential learning opportunities, produces highly-competitive graduates ready for careers in the burgeoning hospitality and food industries.

Expectations
of Transfer Students:
Transfer students should expect to commit to a minimum of four semesters to complete the required courses when they begin the major-level HFIM courses, provided they have met the UGA Core Curriculum requirements (

) and the equivalent of: HFIM 2500 Introduction to Hospitality & Food Industry Management; AAEC 2580 or AAEC 2580E or ECON 2106 or ECON 2106E or ECON 2106H; ECON 2105 or ECON 2105E; ACCT 1160 or ACCT 2101 or ACCT 2101E; FDNS 2100 Human Nutrition and Food; PRTM 1100E Introduction to Travel and Tourism.
Scholarships:
Several scholarships are available to HFIM students through the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Information about these scholarships can be obtained from Whitney Jones in 301 Conner Hall or at wljones@uga.edu. Applicants and recipients must be HFIM majors or intended-majors (intended- majors who change to a different major are not eligible to receive awarded scholarships).
Internships:
Internships are an integral and required part of the HFIM program.
An on-campus partnership with the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel offers students access to extensive, fully equipped facilities that are engaged in the hotel, restaurant, beverage, and conference service businesses. These facilities are a teaching and experiential learning laboratory for students, including internship opportunities.
