University-wide Requirements

Description: The Agriscience and Environmental Systems major allows students to receive a UGA degree after completing the third and fourth year of their undergraduate program on the Tifton campus. The major, designed in partnership with ABAC, offers courses from faculty who are developing technologies to benefit the rural areas of our state and region. Students may transfer into the program from any other institution.

Career Opportunities: Students will develop skills that will allow them to play major roles in economic development of rural areas in the southeastern United States.
of Transfer Students:
The UGA faculty will offer the third and fourth years of the major in Tifton. The curriculum for the major has been designed in collaboration with ABAC, allowing a student to enroll in the ABAC transfer program and subsequently enroll at UGA. The special partnership will allow transfer students in the program to take required lower division courses at ABAC. However, the program welcomes students who qualify for UGA transfer from other institutions. A student may transfer into the program from any other institution.

Internships: Students in this major will benefit from the opportunity to participate in internships with south Georgia companies that are successfully applying the latest technologies in agriculture and related fields. Students will learn principles and their application in the plant and animal sciences, in precision agriculture, in environmental sciences, and in added value of agricultural products, all in the context of agribusiness marketing and economic development.
