Exploration of the rich tradition and history of another culture and participation in a cultural immersion experience. Investigation of societal and government systems to support positive youth development and recreation practices through program leadership, service-learning, field experiences, discussion, and student projects in an international location.
Non-traditional format: This course is taught as a month-long immersion study abroad course with a 1/3 lecture, 2/3 service-learning participation ratio. So for 9 credits, students participate in 26 hours of lecture and 226 hours of fieldwork (2 to 1 ratio).
