Office of the Dean of Students

The Office of the Dean of Students seeks to enhance the educational experience for all students and to help build a sense of campus community through a wide variety of programs and services for individuals and for student groups. These programs and services are divided among four units: the Business Office, Intercultural Affairs , Student Life, and the Tate Student Center .

The Office of the Dean of Students is a primary point of contact for students through more than 700 registered student organizations; student programming groups (such as the University Student Union Programming Board and the Student Government Association); social fraternities and sororities (Greek Life Office); student leadership programs and volunteer services (Center for Leadership and Service); and international and multicultural programs (Intercultural Affairs).

The Dean also administers the Office of Student Conduct.

Facilities and services available through the department within the Tate Student Center include information desks; study and TV lounges; meeting, conference, and multi-purpose rooms; a movie theater; an 11,000-square-foot Grand Hall; student organization offices; a Business Office (ticket sales, UGACard office, and cashier window); Print and Copy Services; and technical support and equipment rental for campus events. The Tate Student Center also houses six restaurants, a snack bar, and a branch of the United States Postal Service.

Tate Student Center also operates the Olympic-sized Legion Pool and the adjacent Legion Field, an outdoor program and event facility.

Campus Ministry Association

Students may participate in the religious programs of Athens churches and in student organizations sponsored by all major faiths, denominations, and inter/non-denominational organizations. Many of these maintain student religious centers and are members of the Campus Ministry Association. These include: Baptist Student Union, Bulldog Christian Fellowship, Campus Crusade for Christ, Catholic Center, Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, Christian Campus Fellowship, Christus Victor Lutheran Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Institute of Religion, Disciples on Campus, Episcopal University Center, Georgia Christian Student Center, Hillel: Campus Center for Jewish Life, Holy Cross Lutheran, Methodist Center (Wesley Foundation), The Navigators, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Presbyterian Student Center, Reformed University Fellowship, Unitarian-Universalist Campus Ministry, Worldwide Discipleship Association and Young Life.

International Student Life

The International Student Life Office encourages both international and U.S. students to participate in cross-cultural programs and international activities at UGA. Students are invited to become World Ambassadors, serve as orientation leaders, as well as volunteer and participate in such international and intercultural programs as International Coffee Hour (every Friday during the fall and spring semesters), International Street Festival and other diverse programs. The office also provides new student orientation programs for international students at UGA every semester, including individualized advising and housing assistance. International Student Life's mission is to support UGA's goal of providing an environment that appreciates our interdependent global society. By working with students to create a welcoming space that provides opportunities for the interactions of students from the USA and other nations, the International Student Life staff provide services for, awareness of, and education about the worldwide social and cultural issues facing UGA students. Student Communications

The Pandora (yearbook) and WUOG-FM (student radio station) are administered by the Student Activities and Organizations unit within the Tate Student Center, (706) 542-7774. The Red & Black is an independently-produced student newspaper.

Student Organizations

A large number of professional and honorary organizations, fraternities and sororities, honor societies, advocacy, international, recreational, and service groups exist on the University campus.
