Course Title: | Capstone Design I |
Course Description: | This capstone design course is the first in a two-semester
sequence that is project-based and focused on problem framing,
stakeholder analysis, concept generation, and project management
skills. The projects are designed to provide students with a
major design experience in mechanical engineering prior to
graduation. |

Nontraditional Format: | Students will meet with assigned faculty to discuss their
individual project execution, progress, and attend a common
lecture hour each week. |

Course Objectives: | This course mainly provides students with an opportunity to
develop competence and self-confidence as design engineers,
develop decision-making and communication skills with the
assistance of state-of-the-art design innovation tools.
Emphasis will be placed on creative design and application and
synthesis of previous courses taken from the agricultural
engineering program. |
Topical Outline: | This course is designed to provide students with a completed
engineering design experience, including problem definition,
concept development, and detailed design with an emphasis on
overcoming real-world constraints. |
