Course Description: | The design and implementation of a wide class of distributed
systems. The selection of topics will vary from year to year.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, distributed file
systems, peer-to-peer systems, distributed spam processing,
content delivery networks, and security and privacy. |

Course Objectives: | To gain an in-depth understanding of current research in
distributed systems so as to be able to perform research in
computer systems in general, and distributed system in
particular. |
Topical Outline: | The topics will vary. Two possible set of topics are given
below:
1. Distributed file systems, peer-to-peer computing,
distributed
algorithms, distributed spam processing, ad-hoc networks
2. Content delivery networks, publish/subscribe systems, sensor
networks, security and privacy in-dept systems, edge caching |
