Course Objectives: | Neoclassical growth theory is discussed, with stress on the necessity in that setting
of continual technological improvement if growth is to be sustained in the long run.
In the second part of the course, on endogenous growth, more recent work is presented
which provides microeconomic foundations for such technological advance to be the
result of profit-seeking activity. Cross country comparisons are presented which
empirically examine these proposed explaninations for growth in context of modern
economies. |
