Course Title: | Financial Accounting and Reporting |
Course Description: | This course addresses the concepts that underlie the utilization
of accounting information in the preparation of financial
statements for shareholders and other external users. Topics of
study include accounting approaches (such as cash vs. accrual),
the format and content of financial statements, and
interpretation of corporate annual reports. |

Course Objectives: | By the end of the course, the students should be able to demonstrate understanding
of the accounting for common transactions affecting the firm's financial
statements; read, understand, and analyze financial statements, including many
related footnote disclosures; and demonstrate a basic understanding of managerial
incentives which affect the estimation process inherent in measuring financial
statement items, the choices among competing accounting and reporting alternatives,
and the regulatory and ethical issues raised by these choices. |
