| Course Objectives: | Through literature and empirical observations, this course will
help students:
1. To grasp a comprehensive spectrum of human rights issues,
including competing definitions, observances and violations, and
requisite conditions for human rights in a variety of social,
cultural, and political settings;
2. To develop the ability to analytically examine human rights
situations in different parts of the world;
3. To articulate opinions on human rights issues; and
4. To make critical examinations of government domestic and
foreign policies that are designed to promote and protect human
