Course Objectives: | Students will gain experience in the entire process of working
with clients to plan and develop solutions for business or other
problems and create a Web-based software application to implement
the solution. Students will learn to work in a team to consult
with a client, and design and provide a solution. They will
learn to understand, appreciate and deal with the realities of
project management and project work, and they will gain
experience utilizing the knowledge from courses in database
management, internet programming, systems analysis, and project
management as they create their software solution. |
Topical Outline: | Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
· Identify the business need, complete a feasibility study, define the project scope,
negotiate conditions, create a project charter, and achieve approval of a project
objectives and deliverables;
· Analyze risks and create a risk management plan;
· Prepare a detailed plan including a project schedule, resource chart, and budget;
· Apply project management techniques for planning and estimating and use an advanced
project management technology (MS Project);
· Execute work i.e., enable communication, coordinate work groups, manage
stakeholders, deliver progress reports, manage trade-offs between scope, cost, and time;
· Build leadership and effectively manage IS project teams;
· Test system, test user acceptance, conduct training, develop system documentation,
and create final project-related business recommendations i.e., consulting report. |
