| Course Title: | Team Development, Facilitation, and Technology |
Course Description: | With the increased emphasis on collaboration and teams, the ability to skillfully facilitate group interactions is one of the most important competencies for leading and managing. At the end of this course the student will have improved facilitative leadership skills, know how to effectively develop and use teams, and know how to successfully apply information technology to support teams. This course is also used to develop the permanent MBA learning teams. |

| Nontraditional Format: | For the distance learning MBA program, 50 percent of the class time will be face-to-face meeting time on campus. The other 50 percent will be completed electronically. For regular MBA programs, majority of course is taught before semester begins with projects due during the semester. |

| Course Objectives: | With the increased emphasis on collaboration and multifunctional
teams as the essential unit of work, the ability to skillfully
facilitate group interactions will be one of the most important
competencies for leading and managing organizations. However,
very few of us have been sufficiently trained to facilitate
successful interactions.
This course has four major outcomes:
1. to develop your collaborative/facilitative/people skills;
2. to improve your ability to successfully develop and
effectively use teams in the MBA program and in your future
career;
3. to increase your skills in successfully applying information
technology to support teams; and
4. to develop permanent MBA learning teams that you will be
member of during your first year of the MBA program.
The outcomes are very interrelated. The teams provide an
opportunity for you to learn and practice facilitation skills and
use technology as well as a vehicle to enhance your learning in
MBA courses. The key to high performing teams is team leaders
and members with good facilitation skills. |
