Course Description: | Theories, conceptual issues, empirical papers, and research
approaches pertaining to Information Systems (IS) research and
its application. Topics vary, but examples are IS-enabled value
creation, economics of IS, design science, inter-organizational
level IS research, group level IS research, critical and
qualitative approaches to IS, and addressing the research needs
of practice. |

| Course Objectives: | The major objective of the seminar is for each participant to
develop a good understanding of the most recent state of
knowledge regarding the IS literature and IS practice issues.
Specifically, upon successful completion of this course, each
student is expected to:
- have developed a sound understanding of the IS research
presented and discussed in class;
- be able to critically evaluate the contributions made by the
IS research presented and discussed in class;
- have developed an ability to articulate important research
ideas and position their significance within the streams of IS
research presented and discussed in class;
- have developed an understanding of how to research and present
applied IS research. |
| Topical Outline: | Topics will vary but are based on areas of current interest in
IS. Possible course topics include IS-enabled value creation,
economics of IS, design science, inter-organizational level IS
research, group level IS research, critical and qualitative
approaches to IS, and addressing the research needs of practice. |
