Course Description: | Cognitive theories and models of human attention, perception,

Semester Course Offered: | Offered every even-numbered year. |

Course Objectives: | By the end of the course, students should have learned about the
current models and methods of cognitive psychology. Contemporary
topics from all areas of cognitive psychology will be discussed,
with an emphasis on research methods. Students will learn to
engage in critical analysis of theory and data, and will also
learn the current issues and models across the subdisciplines of
cognitive psychology. Thus, by the end of the course, students
should have gained a broader perspective on and a deeper
knowledge
of cognitive science, as well as how to effectively engage in
that
science. To ensure the timeliness of the course, an entirely new
set of readings will be selected each time the course is taught,
and readings will consist only of articles published within two
years of the semester in which the course is taught. Thus, the
course may be repeated once without any redundancy in content. |
