Course Description: | Management, leadership concepts, and techniques relevant to news media firms and entrepreneurial endeavors. This study of creating news within for-profit and not-for-profit models examines business structures, strategy and innovation, data analytics, product development, human resources emphasizing diversity and inclusion, and media economics. |

Course Objectives: | Students will learn about the size, scope, and structure of the news media industry, including for-profit and non-profit models and entrepreneurial start-ups.
Students will explore human resources with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
Students will study leadership from managerial and entrepreneurial perspectives.
Students will explore digital innovation and its effects on strategy and product development.
Students will revisit basic economic concepts and study how financial markets work, including how capital is raised for entrepreneurial ventures. |
