Course Title: | Entrepreneurship in Recreation and Tourism |
Course Description: | An introduction to the fundamental concepts, principles, and
approaches to operating commercial recreation and tourism
businesses in natural resource settings. Taking an
entrepreneurial approach, this class will develop an
understanding of business and marketing concepts as they relate
to commercial recreation and tourism. |

Course Objectives: | •Understand the wide range of nature-based recreation and
tourism businesses within the state of Georgia and their
importance to the economy at local and state levels.
•Comprehend and apply the basic concepts, principles, and
approaches to operating commercial recreation and tourism
businesses in natural resource settings.
•Recognize how nature-based recreation and tourism businesses
are planned, marketed, and financed.
•Understand the different complexities associated with the
delivery of tourism and recreation services on public versus
private land.
•Understand and apply the basic tenets of entrepreneurship by
identifying business opportunities and the steps needed to
effectively exploit these opportunities. |
