Course Title: | Ecotourism and Sustainable Development |
Course Description: | Introduction to ecotourism and management, environmentalism,
sustainable development and planning, the politics and
sociology of ecotourism, economic development, and
globalization. Ecotourism and examples of sustainable
development, both in the public and private sectors, will also
be examined at the local, national, and international level. |

Course Objectives: | 1. To provide students with an overview of trends and issues in
ecotourism and sustainable development.
2. To generate an awareness of the concerns of the ecotourism
industry and of the host nations and people about ecotourism
and sustainable development.
3. To examine potential ecotourist and sustainable development
problems and to identify solutions.
4. To provide students with an understanding of the social and
political aspects of ecotourism and sustainable development at
the local, national and international scale. |
