Course Description
Through the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages 5 Cs "communities, communication, cultures, comparisons, and connections," students critically engage in the teaching and learning of small and large āCā culture in world language and TESOL classrooms and how to incorporate them seamlessly into daily lessons.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be assigned additional readings from
leading academic research journals on the topics that deal
with theoretical, methodological, and practical issues
relevant to TESOL and world language educators. Graduate
students will be in charge of facilitating and mediating the
Interpretive Response Paper blog for this class, which takes
place every week and relates to the readings assigned for
class. Graduate students will use their knowledge from the
additional readings to facilitate and mediate the blog.

Course Objectives
By the end of the semester, teacher candidates will be able to: *explain how language and culture are interrelated *integrate culture with the four language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) *discuss TESOL and World Language (WL) education critically and reflexively *develop strategies for critical instruction and evaluation *use varied technological, material, and human resources to promote student learning and professional development
