Course Description

This course provides a broad overview of the major methodological considerations in the behavioral sciences. Topics include quantitative research processes, conceptualization of research problems, research designs, selection of appropriate methods of data collection, consideration of alternative data strategies, interpretation of findings, and research writing.

• Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills as applied to research design through their writing, discussion and presentations.
• Students will demonstrate a strong understanding of basic psychometrics as applied to instruments for both clinical and research purposes.
• Students will demonstrate the ability to conceptualize research designs appropriate for evaluating clinical and prevention outcomes, testing evidence-based interventions, and conceptualizing the influence of family dynamics over time.
