This is the first semester of a two-semester laboratory sequence of organic chemistry for chemistry majors to accompany Advanced Organic Chemistry I.

Course Objectives
The student will learn principles of laboratory work in organic chemistry.
Topical Outline
The student will learn how to isolate compounds in pure form by extraction, distillation, chromatography or crystallization, and how to analyze them. They will learn how to perform common reactions and determine the structures of products using modern instrumental techniques such as gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.
