Acting I: Foundations of Acting


Course Description

Participation in a series of group and individual activities designed to develop basic acting skills. The course also includes exercises for the actor's voice and body. Open only to Theatre majors, who should contact the department or instructor of record for permission to register.

Course Objectives

To introduce the student to the basic imaginative, physical, and vocal skills for actor training. To develop an experimental understanding of the cooperative nature of acting. To acquire a beginning reading knowledge of primary acting theory. To provide methodology for rudimentary character analysis and a basis for making informed acting choices. To introduce the student to evaluating acting choices by attendance at University Theatre productions.
