The construction of gender, history, and representation in novels, poems, and essays of post-war women writers from German-speaking countries. Explores how femininity and feminism inform lives and texts. Taught in German.

Course Objectives

Students will gain understanding of gender, history, and representation in works of post-war women writers from German-speaking countries. Students will be evaluated on the basis of in-class discussions and oral presentations, written assignments, such as essays and extensive postings on WebCt, a midterm and a final exam.
