Course Description
Builds detailed, specialized knowledge of cutting-edge issues
in contemporary German/European public and corporate life.
Current events and student-teacher consensus will determine
thematic foci. Intended to foster competence in
reading "newspaper" German and development of a good formal
written style with emphasis on rhetoric and idioms. Taught in
German.

Students will demonstrate knowledge on a variety of topics in German society and current events, politics, the economy, international affairs, technology, and culture that are of general interest to the German public today.
Students will navigate a variety of German online news sources to investigate current events topics in Germany.
Students will demonstrate confidence, clarity, and fluency in spoken German.
Students will illustrate skills in written German and demonstrate a critical understanding of current events topics.
Students will comprehend and utilize high-frequency verbs and nouns and technical terms relevant to recent developments in politics, the economy, business, international affairs, society, culture, and technology in Germany.
Students will lead in-depth discussions on the current events topic researched as a final project for the class.
