Elementary Vietnamese II


Course Description

A continuation of Elementary Vietnamese. Develops all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Introduces the phonetic system and the Vietnamese script. Another fifteen dialogues contain situation-based conversations which introduce basic vocabulary and grammar. Each lesson contains several culture notes about the country and its customs. Not open to native speakers.

Course Objectives

Students are expected to be able to sustain an elementary level conversation in Vietnamese. They are expected to be able to use fairly complex grammatical constrictions and a vocabulary of about 900-1000 words.
