Course Objectives
In preparation for the oral and written portions of the preliminary exams for the Ph.D. in Art with a concentration in art history, students are to develop a program of reading and study in consultation with their major professor and two members of the art history faculty who serve on their advisory committee. This program of study will reflect the student's broad area of concentration and will most typically be divided into three portions, as agreed to by the student and his/her committee. The semester of directed study will culminate in the oral and written preliminary examination.
