In this introductory writing course, students learn narrative
structure, writing, and storytelling for visual entertainment
media. Students are required to write and workshop documents and
short scripts both in groups and individually.

Upon completing this course, students will be able to develop script writing conventions and formats (such as master scene format, dual column format, beat sheets, and treatments).
Upon completing this course, students will be able to draft a short script that can be used in future Entertainment and Media Studies courses.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to execute the process of creative production, from brainstorming, drafting, and receiving critiques.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to master writing in active voice.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to demonstrate the basic premises of narrative theory and structure and be capable of applying that structure to a variety of visual media.
