Course Objectives
The aim of the course is to help students further develop their literary analytical skills and to acquire a historiographic and cultural appreciation of literature in context. The class will be organized so as to allow discussion of the salient cultural, literary and historiographic issues relevant to the particular epoch under consideration.
Topical Outline
This course will concentrate on the various cultural movements that have shaped Spanish America from the end of the nineteenth century to the present. The selected readings give evidence of the debates between tradition and modernity in the context of globalization and regional agendas.
